Dr. Samuel Kim is a graduate of Yale University, class of 1996, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He graduated from Yale University School of Medicine in 2001. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University in 2004. He has practiced in the Pacific Northwest as an emergency medicine physician since then, serving at Tacoma General Hospital, Willamette Falls Hospital, and most recently at Providence Milwaukie Hospital. He has served as the Emergency Department Medical Director at Providence Milwaukie Hospital from 2010 to 2016.

As an emergency physician Dr. Kim saw firsthand the ravages that drug addiction can have on a patient's life as well as their family and loved ones. He has seen many young adults lose their lives in tragic and unnecessary ways.

Dr. Kim is married with two wonderful daughters and lives in the Portland area. He enjoys snowboarding and working on cars in his spare time.
